UTStarcom’s Optical products provide scalable, cost-effective
transport solutions based upon SDH/SONET and access
solutions based upon Ethernet Passive Optical Networking
(EPON).
Simplifying related interdependent services
by combining them into a single platform, the NetRing® family supports transmission speeds ranging from 155
Mb/s to 10 GB/s, that enable multi-speed integrated transport
for TDM, 10/100/1000M Ethernet and ATM services. The
integration of applications including Generic Framing
Procedure (GFP), Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS),
layer 2 Ethernet switching and Resilient Packet Ring
(RPR) technologies, greatly improves the efficiency and
capacity of data transport. In addition, the product
platform supports various complex network topologies
and includes a sophisticated multi-service management
system.
The Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON)
solutions represent a high-speed alternative to copper
wire access. Unlike UTStarcom’s NetRing® Platform ,
which enables SDH/SONET metro and core optical transport,
the GEPON platform is designed for high-speed access
at the network edge and direct to the subscriber. GEPON
solutions combine the simplicity of Ethernet service
provisioning with the high durability of passive components,
making them extremely operationally cost-effective.
