Continuity™ - A fixed
Mobile Convergence solution

When Carrier’s are evaluating fixed mobile convergence
solutions their most pressing need is to evaluate how
this new technology will impact their current network.
How can they build a converged platform that delivers
innovative services today while leaving the door open
to later evolve to a true next generation network?
How can they leverage the current investments which
have been made in their existing next-generation networks?
The answer? Continuity™ - a solution that can leverage
the investments already made, deliver on the promise
of convergence today, and lead the way to an IMS network
in the future.
Converged Platform
The Continuity™ platform is based on the 3GPP IMS
architecture, which leverages the SIP architecture
in the NGN network and adopts a gateway function to
bridge the GSM (or CDMA) network and the NGN network.
To achieve mobile and Wi-Fi SIP convergence, UTStarcom
manages user profile and location information and exchanges
it between the cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
As a result, the UTStarcom Continuity™ solution is
based on a feature server model with MAP gateway functionality.
Protects Current Investment
Continuity™ has been designed to integrate existing
network elements via industry standard interfaces.
This reduces the need to change out the existing hardware,
change operational procedures or introduce completely
new management designs.
The feature server model of the UTStarcom FMC solution
can make the integration with the existing switching
infrastructure less costly and less time consuming.
