Core Data Network
UTStarcom is the market-leader for CDMA/CDMA2000 core
data network solutions. Based on 3GPP2 standard specifications,
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 2000 core data network components
include:
Packet Data Server Node (PDSN)
UTStarcom's Total Control® PDSN portfolio enables
packet data services for CDMA2000 wireless users. The
PDSN portfolio includes Total Control® 200, Total Control®
1000 and Total Control® 2000 platforms, each geared
for different applications. While Total Control 200
is ideal for wireless campus environments and for in-building
coverage, Total Control 1000 and Total Control 2000
are optimally deployed in wide area networks. UTStarcom's
Total Control PDSN portfolio is a proven, carrier-class
suite of products designed to enable CDMA2000 packet
data services. While Total Control 200 provides support
for up to 8,000 PPP sessions in a 1U form factor, Total
Control 1000 and Total Control 2000 provide much higher
capacity. Total Control 1000 provides support for up
to 128,000 PPP in a chassis while Total Control 2000
provides support for up to 480,000 PPP sessions in
a chassis. The Total Control PDSNs are based on 3GPP2
standards specifications and are interoperable with
other standards-based network elements.

Home Agent (HA)
UTStarcom's Total Control HA portfolio enables mobile
data services in a CDMA2000 network. The HA terminates
Mobile IP tunnels initiated by the PDSN or Foreign
Agent (FA) and maintains the mobility binding information
for each Mobile IP session. Like the PDSN portfolio,
the HA portfolio includes Total Control 200 HA, Total
Control 1000 HA and Total Control 2000 HA, each designed
for different application. UTStarcom's Total Control
HA portfolio is based on 3GPP2 standard specifications
and is developed to interoperate with other standards-based
network elements. The HA directs traffic to mobile
nodes via Foreign Agents (FA) deployed in the network.
The HA can be co-located with the PDSN, thereby lowering
network deployment and maintenance costs. The Total
Control HA portfolio provides high capacity, with Total
Control 1000 HA providing support for 160,000 mobile
binding records per chassis and Total Control 2000
providing support for 1.2 million mobile binding records
per chassis.

Interworking Function (IWF)
UTStarcom's Total Control 1000 IWF offers data services
for CDMA (2G) wireless users. The IWF, deployed with
virtually all CDMA operators around the globe, enables
access to the Internet and Corporate Intranets via
a circuit switched connection, thus enabling an additional
source of revenue for the operator. UTStarcom's IWF
gateway provides a high capacity, software upgradeable,
carrier-class platform for CDMA data services. UTStarcom's
Quick Net Connect (QNC) feature on the IWF enables
a faster connection to the Internet, with average connection
times between 5 to 7 seconds. Utilizing QNC, the user
bypasses the modems altogether and establishes a direct
digital connection. The IWF also supports Analog Fax
functionality, which is highly useful for Wireless
Local Loop (WLL) deployments.
