Core Voice Network
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 2000 voice portfolio is designed
to provide carrier-class voice-over-IP (VoIP) functionality
for CDMA2000 next generation wireless networks. By
transporting voice efficiently over an IP network,
UTStarcom provides an operator with substantial backhaul
and operational cost savings. While ensuring toll-quality
voice service, the MovingMedia® 2000 voice portfolio
has been designed to provide a highly reliable, fault
tolerant and feature-rich solution for the operator.
Intelligent Media Gateway (IMG)
The IMG enables IP-based telephony services in UTStarcom's
All-IP CDMA2000 network. Complying with 3GPP2 specifications,
the IMG has been designed to offer toll-quality, carrier-class
voice communication over IP networks. UTStarcom's IMG
consolidates the function of the media gateway and
signaling gateway into one platform, thereby substantially
reducing the cost of deployment and operation. The
UTStarcom IMG is a highly scalable, carrier-class voice
gateway providing high capacity within a small form
factor. The IMG can be configured and scaled to support
from 2 T1/E1 per chassis to 240 T1/E1 per chassis.
A feature rich platform, the IMG supports various voice
codecs including G.711, G.723.1, G.726 and G.729A.
The IMG also provides support for various media control
protocols including MGCP, SIP and Megaco/H.248.

Mobile Switching Center (MSC Server)
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 2000 MSC Server functions
as the next-generation softswitch for the All-IP CDMA2000
network. While providing all the functions of the traditional
circuit-based MSC, the MSC server provides the added
benefits of an IP network to support mobile voice connections.
The operator deploying the MSC Server can easily and
effectively deploy additional services while continuing
to enjoy transport and operational cost savings. As
a standards-based platform, the MSC Server can integrate
with other standards-based network elements within
a multi-vendor environment. Offering toll-quality voice
service, UTStarcom's MSC Server is a high-capacity
softswitch designed specifically for mobile networks.
The MSC Server is a highly scalable solution, with
the ability to support up to 1-million Busy Hour Call
Attempts (BHCA). The MSC Server also provides support
for CALEA/Legal Intercept, E911, LNP and TTY/TTD. Media
control protocols supported includes MGCP, Megaco/H.248
and SIP.

Signaling Gateway (SGW)
UTStarcom's SGW provides SS7 inter-working and performs
signaling functions for the MovingMedia® 2000 product
line. Designed for the next-generation wireless networks,
the SGW helps separate the protocol processing and
signaling tasks from the other network elements, thereby
improving network operational performance and resource
utilization. The UTStarcom SGW is standards-based,
conforming to specifications defined by ETSI, ANSI,
ITU and IETF. The SGW can reside as a separate element
or can be integrated with the UTStarcom IMG or the
MSC Server. The SGW provides support for ISUP, TCAP,
INAP, M2UA, and M3UA in addition to a host of other
signaling protocols. Specific to media control protocols,
the SGW provides support for MGCP, Megaco/H.248 and
SIP.
