Radio Access (RF)
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 2000 IP-based RF network
components are designed to offer cost-effective CDMA
coverage in urban, rural and campus environments. The
iCell Macro IP Base Station provides wide-area coverage
in urban and rural areas while the iCell Pico IP Base
Station provides indoor coverage in campus and building
environments.
iCell Pico IP RAN
The iCell Pico IP Base Station is an optimal solution
for a CDMA operator wanting to provide in-building
or campus-wide coverage. Based on a 1U compact design
for a rack-mount chassis and a notebook form factor
for wall-mount deployment, the base station provides
high capacity without requiring much space. The iCell
Pico IP Base Station supports CDMA2000 1XRTT voice
and high-speed packet data and ensures optimal cellular
coverage in areas previously not covered adequately
by wireless networks

iCell Macro IP 1X and EVDO RAN
The iCell Macro IP Base Station is optimized for mobile
operators deploying an All-IP CDMA network for urban
and rural areas. Providing industry-leading capacity
with scalability up to 4 carriers/3 sectors per cabinet,
the iCell Macro IP Base Station provides cost-effective
wide-area coverage using next-generation network architecture.
Like the iCell Pico IP Base Station, the iCell Macro
IP Base Station supports CDMA2000 1XRTT voice and high-speed
packet data. Based on 3GPP2 standards specifications,
the iCell Macro IP Base Station can be deployed both
as an overlay network and in new coverage areas.

iCell Soft Base Station Controller (sBSC)
The iCell Soft Base Station Controller (sBSC) provides
the intelligent control function for UTStarcom's MovingMedia®
2000 IP Base Station portfolio. The sBSC can be either
located with the Pico and Macro IP Base Stations or
they can be distributed across the network. The ability
to distribute sBSC across the network eliminates long
backhaul connections to a central BSC, thereby enabling
tremendous cost savings for the operator. The sBSC
also supports an integrated Packet Control Function
(PCF), which ensures further operational cost savings
for the operator. Like the Pico and Macro IP Base Station,
the iCell sBSC is based on 3GPP2 standards specifications,
which ensures vendor interoperability and open interfaces.
Based on a 1U compact form-factor, the sBSC ensures
easy and cost-effective deployment for, both, centralized
and distributed wireless networks.
