Core Network
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 6000 core network elements
include a portfolio of products designed to ensure
secure network connection between the packet core network
and IP network (Gateway GPRS Support Node - GGSN) and
provide mobility and session management (Serving GPRS
Support Node - SGSN) in a 3GPP UMTS TDD network.
Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN)
The GGSN, in a UMTS TDD network, provides a similar
function to the GGSN in a UMTS Frequency Division Duplex
(FDD) network. UTStarcom's MovingMedia® GGSN6200
ensures a secure connection between the packet core
network and the IP network. The GGSN has been designed
to ensure the mobile operator a smooth migration path
to 3GPP R5. UTStarcom's MovingMedia® GGSN200
shares a common platform with the SGSN and RNC in the
UMTS TDD network. While offering carrier-class functionality
and reliability, the GGSN offers industry leading capacity
and performance. A fully-loaded, dual-chassis GGSN
configuration provides peak throughput of 2.8Gbps and
supports 150,000 maximum active PDP contexts.
