Radio Access Network
(RAN)
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 6000 RAN components offer
UMTS TDD solutions in 5MHz or 10MHz spectrum in 3400-3600MHz
licensed frequency band. The RAN elements include a
portfolio of 3GPP standard-based NodeB Base Stations
that offer industry-leading capacity and performance
and the Radio Network Controller (RNC) that provides
control and management for the RF network elements.
NodeB Base Stations
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® 6000 NodeB Base Stations
receive and transmit radio signals and process physical
layer functions including, but not limited to, channel
coding, modulation and de-modulation. Currently, the
MovingMedia® 6000 product line includes two different
NodeB Base Stations - NB6411 and NB6433. MovingMedia® 6000 UMTS TDD Base Stations are designed to ensure
high capacity and throughput. NB6411c is the lower
capacity UMTS TDD (TD-CDMA) Base Station providing
up to 3-sector RF coverage and 1-sector traffic capacity.
NB6433 is the higher capacity UMTS TDD (TD-CDMA) Base
Station providing 3-sector RF coverage, 3-sector traffic
capacity. NB6411 and NB6433 Base Stations can be deployed
in, both, indoor and outdoor locations.

Radio Network Controller (RNC)
UTStarcom's MovingMedia® RNC6000
is the intelligent controller of the RF network elements
within the UMTS TDD network domain. The RNC6000 is
designed to process and route data and voice traffic
between circuit/packet networks and the MovingMedia® 6000
NodeB Base Stations. Additionally, the RNC6000 is designed
to be deployed centrally with the other core network
elements. MovingMedia® RNC6000
manages mobility and hand-off functions via an IP network
connection to the NodeB and SGSN. A complete RNC system
with two chassis can support up to 80 cells and provides
a total throughput of 80Mbps for the 10MHz 16Q AM channel.
The RNC6000 has been designed to provide carrier-class
functionality and high reliability along with complete
fault tolerance.
